Thank you, Evelyn!

WOMA on the cover of the brush scene! So nice. Unfortunately, this journal will no longer exist. We see the changes in the brush industry with mixed feelings, but we can understand Evelyn Hurter's decision.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful long-term cooperation. This was characterized by a warm and friendly contact between us, which we will hopefully continue in the future. We wish you, dear Evelyn, all the best for your professional and personal future. Stay as you are!

For every door that closes, a new one opens. And so we hope that there will be a suitable successor for the officially ended Interbrush era. Personal contact with our customers and business partners is important to us and the hours of discussion at the trade fair are irreplaceable.

We firmly believe that all the actual changes will turn to something good in the end. Let's make the best of the current situation by sticking together and supporting each other instead of fighting. Not only a society lives from diversity, but also the economy. Our brush industry should remain colorful and diverse, just like its products!

WOMA's 10th Anniversary

The WOMA team recently had a reason to celebrate, the 10th anniversary of the company.

Since April 2008, the company has been supplying the brush industry with used machines both for woodworking and for the production of brushes, brooms, paintbrushes, paint rollers, mops. Including special equipment, for example for technical or medical brushes. Focusing on the international market right from the start, founder and company owner Daniel Köhler has developed his company from a one-man business to a professionally positioned company.

On average, about two employees per year were added, so that today about twenty employees take care of the needs of customers. In addition to the two women in the office, around fifteen professionals work on the machines in the workshop. "In the beginning we only cleaned and resold the machines. Today, we can realize complete overhauls with new CNC control." Daniel Köhler explains the development of recent years. Furthermore, of course, machines are only bought and sold again. But the demand for the "full service" is rising steadily, according to the entrepreneur. He himself had even trained as a machine construction engineer, which he considered even ten years ago to be impossible.

He and his wife are especially proud of the new location in Bad Salzungen and their "mixed” team. "We have everything here, from the farm mechanic to the lumberjack." Smiles the boss and says about the move to the 1,500 square meter building, that he was especially concerned to improve the working conditions for his employees. "And by the way, we quadrupled our storage space. As a machine dealer, you simply have to have space." With the enlargement, Daniel Köhler also made room for his second business idea, the new machine construction. "However, enlargement also means more responsibility - towards employees and customers. In order to do justice to this, my wife and I work a lot, but also absolutely gladly. Brushes are an exciting topic that we will hopefully be with for many more years" concludes Daniel Köhler his retrospect.

Second Business: New Machines for Woodworking and Brush Industries

“Our baby needs a name” was the initiation for Daniel Koehler to found the new company “WOMAtec Maschinenbau GmbH”. He also wanted to separate the second hand machine trade business from the new machinery building.

But how was the idea born to build new machines for woodworking and brush industries? Daniel Koehler explains: “During selling a very old but solidly built strip brush machine our customer asked us if we may be able to build a similar machine for him: simple, mechanical, heavily constructed means strong but not so fast. With our current competences we felt quite able to do that. I was looking for a second business idea anyway so I decided to try it by receiving the input from our customer.” So the first machine was made still under the name of WOMA as a customized device. Further inquiries followed with different specifications. The team around Daniel Koehler was growing, also their knowledge, experience and qualifications. In May 2015 the new baby of brush industry was born. Daniel Koehler founded as 100% owner and only general manager the WOMAtec Maschinenbau GmbH.

Until now three more strip brush machines were made, one double band machine with winder, two roller cutters, a paint brush cleaning machine and several small customized devices. “We are able to realize very different projects. Especially in the field of technical brushes customers are asking for particular solutions. Currently we are in progress with a fully automatic line for picking, fixing and insertion of abrasive filament bundles into glued brushes.”

Also the retrofits for brush drilling and filling machines are done under the name of WOMAtec. “Because at finishing such a full overhauling the machine is like new. We give warranty and we are supporting the new computer control system like a machine manufacturer.” Daniel Koehler explains. More and more second hand machines have old computer control system which are not supported anymore by the original manufacturer, but their mechanical condition is still good, sometimes even better than the lighter constructed new machines. So there is a growing demand. Like the WOMAtec machines also the software is simple and easy to operate. It’s compatible with all machine brands like Zahoransky, Schlesinger, Borghi etc. and suitable for up to 5 axis. There is also a WOMAtec software update for blister packing machines available.

Daniel Koehler by himself engineers the most machines and parts by himself. He pays attention to solid parts made of best quality steel, aluminum or special alloys for particular tools. The WOMAtec machines are consisting of worldwide available standard parts from German manufacturers like Festo, Siemens, SEW also of parts made by local suppliers or in-house at the common workshop with WOMA. “We can proudly say: Our machines are 100% made in Germany.” Daniel Koehler gives his resúmé.

New Location:

Our machine warehouse, our competencies and thus our team are growing continuously. After nearly ten years of company development, the capacities of our first location in Stadtlengsfeld were exhausted. Above all, the foundation of the second company, WOMAtec Maschinenbau GmbH, which exclusively deals with the development, planning and production of new machines for the brush and wood industry, necessitated an expansion of the workshop and office space. An extension at the Stadtlengsfeld location would have been possible, but requires lot of time and manpower. That is why Daniel Koehler decided to buy a finished warehouse, whose location, building fabric and spatial conditions are optimal for us. After minor renovations and alterations, the premises were ready to move in just a few weeks. Since 1st March 2017 the companies WOMA Wood Machinery and WOMAtec Maschinenbau GmbH are now located under the roof of a 1.500 sqm industrial hall in a modern industrial estate in the district town Bad Salzungen.

Not only the fortified yard with lorry tarmac and parking lots is a relief for employees, guests and suppliers. Above all the generous workshop area offers optimal conditions for works such as turning, milling, polishing, drilling, welding as well as for the assembly of new machines or repairs on the used ones. In a large painting room machine frames, covers as well as small parts can be pretreated and painted. The own sandblasting system is the ideal supplement. In the approx. 1.000 square meter machine warehouse all used machines are now available and can be easily reached and viewed by customers.

In addition to the social rooms, the office space offers bright and friendly spaces for the field of sectrection, sales, construction and workshop management. Digital Highspeed and, with a view to the beautiful countryside of Werratal, our employees will be pleased to answer your inquiries. We also look forward to every visitor!

WOMA worker retired

For the first time in the WOMA history Daniel Koehler needs to retire one of his workers. Gerhard Schlegel from the neighboring place Weilar has earned-well his pension after 45 man-years. Four years he was part of the WOMA team and will further be - in a mini job. As experienced mechanic he could teach the youngsters still a lot.

In honour of Gerhard's retirement WOMA was celebrating a great barbecue.
PS: Thanks, Gerhard!
